Last night I had the pleasure of interviewing Aros Crystos on our show. He’s a this and a that and so much more. I could on and on about him and what I learned in one interview alone, but it’s late, and I want to get to bed before the sun comes up tonight.
You can listen to his show that will be posted here in a few days, I am sure. But I would like to share something that he shared after the interview with the studio audience. This is how this man thinks, and I love it…
He asked “Why do we blow out candles on our Birthdays?” I immediately knew where he was going. We are extinguishing the light when we blow out a candle. What is the meaning of that? Leaving us in the dark.
I thought about other ceremonies where candles are used like wedding ceremonies and how the Unity candle is lit during the ceremony giving life to a new union and bringing two together, two candles igniting a third which then represents the union.
Come to think of it, the candles that lit the Unity candle are blown out, and I have to think about how I feel about that. Because the symbolism there is that the individuals are gone and what is left is the sacred union. That’s great for the sacred union, but… I’ll stop there. I have to think about this one.
But back to the Birthday candle. We are energetically, literally, blowing out the light, turning out the light, shutting off the light of our life, years, future with each year we blow candles. I think next year, instead of blowing out candles on a cake, maybe I will light a candle, or two or three or however many I want to symbolize how many years I have shown light on this planet and shared love with all my beautiful friends and family and you all.
Now that’s an interesting thought?
Thank you Aros. I’m starting a tradition, come my Birthday this year. Anyone want to beat me to it?
