Part One: Why Developing Our Intuitive Intelligence Is More Important Than Ever by Susan Barnes
The technologies I am most fascinated by are those that have diminished the constraint of time & space on humanity. The invention of the telegraph in the 1830’s, for example, allowed the exchange of information to be relayed much faster than messengers could deliver through post on horses. What could have taken days or weeks was now communicated quicker thus increasing the pace at which reality was changing & shaped. The telephone is another example. The answering machine & the fax machine, as well. All similar in that they created bridges collapsing the vast spacial expanse between a thought in one person’s mind, & its concurrent augmentation of some one, thing, place or event in another part of Earth in time.
A dramatic shift occurred with the advent of the internet. This technology significantly collapsed the constraint of time & space on humanity. Information could now be communicated instantaneously, & this new level of accessibility to each other increased the speed at which our world changed. An increase that was – & continues to be – exponential. As time went by, we drowned in an ocean of possibility, uncertain of what or whom to believe. The amount of information generated & available reaching maddeningly infinite levels. The term “disinformation” has begun to color the landscape of our globe, & one may question how to make sense of it all in a world that spins on with a fury that is nearly impossible to keep up with.
Exponential growth dictates that these changes will continue to accelerate. The available information will continue to amass into unimaginable volumes, & this will remain overwhelming to us as long as we choose to remain externally referenced. Meaning, as long as we continue to look outside of ourselves for the answers, we will be subject to a dizzying expanse of endless contradiction. Thankfully, we have a saving grace. To guide us through these times & beyond, the need will be to shift away from relying extensively on the answers & sense-making to come from outside of us & to instead turn our lens inward. What is required of us at this critical junction in our evolution is to re-attune to the profound instinctual intelligence of our inner senses, otherwise known as our Intuition.
