“The Heart Always Knows,” Blog by Wanda Webster and Christopher Mack
Is your mind always running, always thinking, thinking, and over-thinking? Trying to solve problems, trying to predict what might come next, or trying to plan the future?
Have you ever had an empty mind? Is it even possible?
I was leaving a meeting one day and as I walked out onto the sidewalk, all of a sudden I found myself not thinking about anything. This is a monumental feat for someone with ADHD!
I even tried to think about something, but was not able to. It was a beautiful August day and I was able to feel and appreciate the incredible day around me. I took the time to take it all in. It was both strange and amazing. I realized that was the day that I was able to get out of my head and to live from my heart.
We are generally not living from this place, but it is such a beautiful way to live.
I am reminded of a quote that the fox said to the boy in Saint-Exupery’s The Little Prince, “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”
The mind usually interferes and commandeers the portion of us that wants to expand and appreciate. When your heart is open and filled with the capacity for love, it is impossible to be filled with worries and anxieties.
The mind can corrupt anything, even a beautiful day. The heart is where authenticity is found. In order to live authentically, we must all shift our consciousness to live from our hearts, offering compassion and empathy for all of our brothers and sisters here on planet earth.
